Why GFC’s Garage Floor Epoxy System Outperforms the Rest

When it comes to transforming garages into clean, durable, and beautiful spaces, not all coatings are created equal. At GFC, our 2-day flooring system is built on the strength of a moisture-mitigating, 100%-solids garage floor epoxy, giving homeowners a thicker, longer-lasting, and more reliable foundation than fast-cure alternatives. But what does “100% solids” actually mean—and why should it matter to you?

What Is 100%-Solids Garage Floor Epoxy?

Most epoxies are made of a mix of resins, hardeners, and solvents. As solvent-based or water-based epoxies and polyaspartics cure, the liquid components evaporate, leaving behind a thinner final layer. In contrast, a moisture-mitigating, 100%-solids garage floor epoxy contains zero fillers or solvents—everything in the bucket stays on your floor.

That means:

  • No shrinking or thinning as it cures
  • A much thicker application in a single pass
  • Greater durability and impact resistance
  • Better adhesion to the concrete surface

For homeowners, this translates to a more substantial coating—what you see is what you get.

Why Thicker Matters: More Value and Longevity

GFC’s moisture-mitigating, garage floor epoxy base coat goes on thick and stays thick (it’s a “high-build” coating). It penetrates deeply into your concrete slab, forming a bond that stands the test of time. The thick coat acts as a moisture vapor barrier (MVB)—and resists everything from moisture-vapor transmission to high hydrostatic pressure to car traffic. Our system is built to last for decades, not just a few years.

That’s real value. You’re not just paying for a color flake and some shine. You’re investing in:

  • Long-term protection from stains and scratches
  • A stronger barrier for moisture mitigation
  • A floor that keeps performing under pressure

Why We Don’t Offer a 1-Day System

GFC is proud to use a 2-day process that combines a slower-curing, moisture-mitigating, 100%-solids epoxy base coat topped with two separate 100%-solids polyaspartic clear coats. Other companies may boast about quick 1-day installs, but their systems often rely on fast-curing polyurea or polyaspartic as the base layer. That saves time—but it comes at a cost (“Speed over quality.”).

Polyaspartics are superb topcoats, but lousy direct-to-concrete base coats. They cure so quickly in the presence of moisture (< 1 hour) that they fail to deeply penetrate and form a strong bond with the concrete slab. And by nature of a polyurea-polyaspartic’s chemistry, it goes down far thinner than a high-build epoxy. You end up with a wafer-thin, poorly penetrating base coat (…and your entire coating system is only as strong as the base coat). This approach often leads to moisture-related issues like delamination.

We use polyaspartics too. Only 100%-solids polyaspartics…and only as clear top coats. Never as direct-to-concrete base coats. Because we allow a full day for our moisture-mitigating epoxy base coat to cure, we take 2 days to install our quality coating systems. By taking the time to do it right, GFC provides a stronger, more durable, and more attractive floor—without shortcuts.

A Floor That Performs as Good as It Looks

With GFC, what you see is truly what you get. Our garage floor epoxy doesn’t thin as it cures, and our dual polyaspartic topcoats seal in that strength with a sleek, chemical- and UV-stable finish. You get bold color, texture, and unbeatable performance—all backed by a warranty you can trust.

Your garage doesn’t have to be the worst room in the house. With GFC’s proven 2-day system, it can become one of the best—without shortcuts, and without surprises.
