A Cure for Damaged Concrete

In the more northern US states, winter temperatures can oscillate wildly. Because of these fluctuations, the freeze-and-thaw can do a real number on your concrete flooring. As winters come and go, your concrete continues to deteriorate. However, thereโ€™s a cure for damaged concrete.

So What Produces the Damage?

Water is a strange liquid. When it freezes, it expands around 9 percent. In moist concrete flooring (and all concrete has moisture), this freezing produces a pressure in the pores of the concrete. If the pressure exceeds the tensile strength of the concrete, the pores dilate and rupture.

The end result? If youโ€™re lucky, minor random cracking, surface scaling or minor joint deterioration. If youโ€™re not, the damage can be extensive…pitted concrete, broken joints and large and deep cavities.

Heavy-Duty Quick Repair

Fortunately, our GarageFloorCoating.com R&D team has developed a heavy-duty, quick repair concrete product called Duracuire Fast Cure Concrete Patch. This product consists of 2 components: an aggregate and a mineral oxide accelerator.

When mixed with a little water and our proprietary clear Hydro Polymer, the resulting mixture is easily troweled into the repair area. Because it only requires a 1-hour wait time for drying, grinding and epoxy coating can start soon after.ย Thatโ€™ll save a whole day of installationโ€ฆgreat for the installer and even better for the customer.
