A Cure for Damaged Concrete

In the more northern US states, winter temperatures can oscillate wildly. Because of these fluctuations, the freeze-and-thaw can do a real number on your concrete flooring. As winters come and go, your concrete continues to deteriorate. However, there’s a cure for damaged concrete.

So What Produces the Damage?

Water is a strange liquid. When it freezes, it expands around 9 percent. In moist concrete flooring (and all concrete has moisture), this freezing produces a pressure in the pores of the concrete. If the pressure exceeds the tensile strength of the concrete, the pores dilate and rupture.

The end result? If you’re lucky, minor random cracking, surface scaling or minor joint deterioration. If you’re not, the damage can be extensive…pitted concrete, broken joints and large and deep cavities.

Heavy-Duty Quick Repair

Fortunately, our GarageFloorCoating.com R&D team has developed a heavy-duty, quick repair concrete product called Duracuire Fast Cure Concrete Patch. This product consists of 2 components: an aggregate and a mineral oxide accelerator.

When mixed with a little water and our proprietary clear Hydro Polymer, the resulting mixture is easily troweled into the repair area. Because it only requires a 1-hour wait time for drying, grinding and epoxy coating can start soon after. That’ll save a whole day of installation…great for the installer and even better for the customer.
